Both the sciences and the arts had their hooks in her and she pursued them with a lot of fervor. And it only made sense that she would eventually blend those two elements together to produce fiction. The author looks at her stories like problems that must be solved, no different from any other math equation. The author started out writing short fiction that appeared in magazines and anthologies.
She was nominated for various awards as a result. She eventually graduated to full-length novels of which the Saga of the Skolian Empire series is the most popular. Because of her scholarly background, Catherine Asaro tends to write hard science fiction.
